Olav Stubberud
Photographer and Content Creator
Olav Stubberud comes from a town just outside Oslo, Norway. He first picked up a camera at the age of 11. Two years later, he took his first snowboard photo—and had it published in a major publication.
By the time he finished elementary school and started junior high, Olav was already traveling the world shooting snowboarding. His work displayed a wide range of reflective styles, quickly gaining recognition within the snowboard industry. At 17, he was nominated for Photographer of the Year, and by 19, he won Picture of the Year at the Norwegian Snowboard Awards—making him the youngest recipient of that honor. Two years later, he also won Video of the Yearwith his childhood crew, RK1 (read more here). This made him the only person to win awards in both video and photography, a reflection of his dual skillset and his current work on a larger scale.
Driven by a desire to expand and challenge himself, Olav began working with musicians and artists. He shot the first-ever press photos of Kygo, which marked the beginning of a three-year collaboration as Kygo’s trusted photographer.
Since then, Olav has become the first choice for some of the biggest names—not just in music and sports, but across multiple industries. These days, he’s the one who gets called when history is being written—and for Olav, photographed.
Olav is a unique multi artist that balances between the commercial and artistic.
He believes in taking the long road, with no shortcuts. Honoring the old ways of doing things, Olav stands as a bridge between the present and the past.
